About the Handbook

The AIDS Research Community Handbook is a new resource for HIV treatment and prevention research advocates. This site is designed for community advisory board members, community representatives on Institutional Review Boards, and anyone who is interested in research advocacy.

What is Research Advocacy?

Research advocacy infuses research with the patient perspective from the questions that are asked in research to the way people who participate are protected from risk and how results are provided

Who Maintains this Site?

David Mariner is a research advocacy consultant who lives in Silver Spring Maryland. David has worked with the Community Programs for Clinical Research on AIDS, the The Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group, and the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. David has also been a trainer for the Parents Place of Maryland REAP (Research, Education, and Advocacy Project) Training Program.
